It seems I never really write here unless it is about my dad. Guess what? This is totally about him too.

I haven't watched much sports since he died 4.5 years ago. I would watch football with him and we would talk about baseball. We went to the Red Sox ring ceremony on Opening Day 2005. He took me to a Patriots game, and it was by far the most I have ever enjoyed football.

My least favorite football play is when the QB hands off the ball and the guy runs INTO the tight pack of people. Most of the time, they just get stopped. It infuriated me.

On Sunday, I went to a Red Sox game for the first time in a long time. It was fun, and it brought back so many memories of being there with him.

Last night, I was watching a show on the DVR and when it was over, the football game on was. As chance would have it, the Patriots had the ball, and what play did they run? Brady handed off the ball and whoever he handed it to ran straight through the middle of the pack and made it through. I'm pretty sure they got a first down on the play. It felt like he was there. So I watched the rest of the game and it just felt good.

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss him. There are good days and bad days. Yesterday was a good one. I love it when I can feel his presence. Who knows, maybe I'll start watching sports more often (probably not.)

Writer's Block: Jury Duty

Have you ever served on a jury? If yes, then what was the case and what was the verdict?

No, I haven't. I've been called to jury duty 3 times now. The first time it was for an accused kiddy diddler. I was the last person to get dismissed on the first day because my mom used to work for the defense attorney's old law partner.

The second time my part of the jury pool went over to civil court. It was a car accident case, and I got to sit in the jury box for a grand total of 5 minutes (until the first round of dismissals) before I got sent home.

The most recent time, it was a bank robber case. This judge was my favorite. After reading my jury questionnaire, he said "So, you bleed blue, huh?" I sat in the jury box for a whole 15 minutes this time- through 2 rounds of dismissals before the defense sent me home.

I do feel like in order to get on a jury I'd probably half to lie on questionnaire, but I keep going.

Update on my boring life

It's not like I used to update a lot even when I had a job, but I feel even less motivated now that I don.t have one.

I've applied for 15 different part time jobs. I was called in for an interview at one of them. I never heard back, so I'm assuming I didn't get the job. That also makes me wonder when it became the norm to not even notify someone that you don't want them? The same thing happened before when I was looking to change jobs in 2007. 2 different companies brought me in for interviews, asked for samples of my work and references and then just stopped communicating. They didn't even respond to e-mails or phone calls. It's just plain rude! That rant aside, I also sent in 2 different volunteer application to nearby animal shelters and even they haven't gotten back to me. I found one other place I'd love to volunteer, and I'm pretty sure they'd get back to me but it's ~1 hr away in Hopkinton, RI.

I've been spending quite a bit of time going back and forth between my house and Westwood. My dad ruptured his right quad while on a cruise to Bermuda, and then shortly after fell down the stairs and ruptured his left quad. He had surgery to fix them a little over a week ago in town at the Baptist and then he got moved to the Clark House in Westwood. The Clark House is a fantastic place for two reasons: 1) they're very good at what they do and 2) it's ~4 miles from my parents house. He's doing well and hopefully he'll be home by next weekend. He's ready to come home day. Plus, as the weather gets hotter and stays nicer, my parents have a pool and we don't have AC so it seems like a match made in heaven.

And now it's thundering, so I'll stop writing and shutdown to avoid any electricity issues.
I typed this out last night and just noticed that I didn't post it.

I'm very annoyed at the new Thursday tv line-up. I can handle things on 3 channels at once- ABC/NBC/Fox now that they've moved Bones. However, in a few weeks Survivor starts again! I think my head may explode. I have a meeting scheduled tomorrow (Friday) from 3:30 - 4:30. ick! Obviously the person who scheduled it has no idea I like to leave at 4 on Fridays. BOO
On Thursday I worked from Providence. The 15 minute commute is sooo much better than the min. 1.5 hrs I usually have! Thursday afternoon we had our Site Group holiday gathering, which included going on a tour of the BCBS RI (Blue Cross Blue Shield RI) new headquarters. It's still under construction, and it was super cool. It's 14 stories, and the top 3 floors aren't enclosed yet. It was super cool, and the views of Providence were beautiful.

Have I mentioned my TV boyfriend John Garcia before? I looove him. :) He took Georgia, one of the Michael Vick dogs, on Ellen last week. Here is a super cute story about the trip (mostly about the cutie Georgia).

I don't want to go out and shovel. Anyone want to come over and do it for us?

stupid nbc

Sometimes I get unjustifiably angered by things, and sometimes the anger is worth it. So when I proclaimed "are you f*cking kidding me" when NBC announced McCauley Culkin in Home Alone was better than charlie brown's christmas special, I'm still not sure if it was unjustified. I mean, come on, Home Alone bettwe than Charlie Brown?
I just discovered Doogie Howser, MD is on hulu.com.
I know what I'll be doing the rest of the afternoon!

i stoled this!
